Question 1
Discuss the TWO (2) tools that were your personal favorites from the semester and why.
This year I really enjoyed learning how to use Adobe Spark Page. It was a really neat app that I could actually see myself using it in the classroom. I thought it was simple to put together and it is free so that's really nice. I thought it flowed really well when you scroll through making it visually appealing. The app allowed you to string pictures and text together on what appeared to be from layers. I had never seen anything like it. It's almost like a new age PowerPoint. I created a lesson for learning how to retell stories. My story was about the three little pigs. I was able to put pictures in the background as well as in front of them to show the pigs, their houses, and the big bad Wolf. This would be really neat to use for a social studies lesson in the classroom. I could see myself putting together a presentation about the history of something and this app would just be perfect for that.
The second app I really liked was called ThingLink. I thought it was very cool that you could add any link to any picture you wanted. I feel like I have seen this on a lot of websites before. You just move your mouse over a part of the picture and a link pups up that you can click on. You could have it link to a picture, question, or to a whole different website or video. I created my lesson over the state capitals of the Midwest. I had a picture of all of the states and put the links where the capital belong. If you moved your mouse over where the capital was all kinds of different links popped up that you could go to to learn more about the capitals. I also included some questions so that the students would have something to answer. I think in the real classroom students would get a kick out of doing something like this. I could see them wanting to make one themselves for a presentation. If I were to make one for my class I could see myself doing a picture of a habitat for science and then have links on all the different aspects of it so that the students can explore all that makes up the environment.
