Class Quiz Games with Quizizz (An Alternative to Kahoot)
This week I read an article on Learning in Hand by Tony Vincent about using quizzes in class as formative assessments. I think quizzes are a really fun way to get students involved and excited while also being able to see how much knowledge they've retained. This article was a good, quick read that compared the two apps Kahoot and Quizizz.
The two programs are similar in that the teacher can create a quiz and students just have to type in a code to join and take the test. The difference is that with Kahoot, the questions show up on the board and the student chooses the answer on their own iPad. But with Quizizz, the question and answer options show up on the students' screens and they just pick their answer and can move at their own pace. Tony says that Quizizz is much easier when it comes to making the quizzes. As a teacher that's really important to have an easy, straightforward way to make quizzes so more time can be used towards preparing for class instead of struggling with technology.
Quizz games can be a great way to have fun with your students while also gauging their learning. I think I will try to incorporate these quizzes in my classroom. After reading this review I will be sure to look into both apps because they both have their benefits.
